Returning to Twitter
I’ve been back on Twitter more regularly lately, and honestly, it feels familiar in a way I missed. (I’m still not calling it X and I intentionally open Twitter.com even though I know it’s a redirect)
Twitter played a significant role in my early web career. I found people to learn from, shared links on what I was learning from, and ended up in lists in the early days. That experience led to lifelong friends, work opportunities, and was the primary marketing tool for the Front-End Design Conference.
When the big web community exodus happened, it felt like losing a community. I never found the same rhythm on Mastodon or Bluesky.
Now I’m back because so much of the AI conversation is happening on Twitter. New workflows, new tooling, and people openly sharing what they’re building. It has the same vibe of 2009 Twitter to me, as this is a pivotal time and people are sharing everything they’re learning.
One thing that surprised me is that people are basically writing full articles on Twitter. I’ve always saved tweets in some way for reference, but now I’m regularly adding “tweets” to my “read later” section in Notion.
It’s exciting and vibrant again! While I miss a lot of my OG folks, I am enjoying exploring this wave with the community.
